Here’s how to make trendy and delclious sour patch grapes using fresh grapes, lime juice, and gelatin powder.
Fans of Sour Patch candy will love this fun snack!
You’ll need just three ingredients to make candied grapes. We hopped on this online trend last summer, and my teenagers loved it! The best part is that this project is super easy and fun, and the kids can help make it.
To make these just toss the grapes in lime juice and then coat them with your fave Jell-o gelatin flavors. (You can even use sugar-free varieties)! After you have finished coating them, toss them in the freezer until frozen. That’s it!

A unique way to flavor grapes similar to Sour Patch candy as a frozen snack.
1
Wash and dry fresh grapes. Remove them from the stem.
2
Squeeze lime juice and toss with the grapes.
3
Roll them through your favorite flavor of gelatin powder and place on a baking sheet pan. (My method was to roll a handful at a time in a bowl.)
4
Place the sheet pan in the freezer until the grapes are frozen which takes a few hours. Enjoy frozen! Yum.

More tips about how to make Sour patch grapes:
- This idea is highly adaptable for taste and nutrition. For instance, you can use a mix of citric acid and monk fruit sweetener instead of Jell-o powder for a more natural route. I have also seen others use flavored drink mix powders like the ones you add to water.
- I rolled my grapes in small bowls of various Jell-o powder. You can instead use storage bags and shake.
- Keep any leftovers stored in a covered container in the freezer.
- Want to try an adult alcoholic version? You can soak overnight in vodka first then proceed like this. This sounds dangerously delicious!
The Sour Patch grapes trend is worth a try!
We found it to be easy and so GOOD! We love sour candy at our house so this simple idea was a big hit. I have always been a fan of frozen grapes in general, so this takes them next level. Using the yummy cotton candy variety of grapes is especially tasty here. Highly recommend!
