Welcome to Music Daily’s Trending Tracks, where we highlight the artists and trends occupying the music industry’s attention. Some come out of the woodwork, others have endured a months-long crusade to greatness. Nonetheless, all of them are captivating the short-circuited minds of Gen-Z social media users.

A week after the release of Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA album followed by a pop-up Brooklyn performance, multiple album tracks land on our Trending Tracks chart, with the Daniel Caesar collaboration “ST. CHROMA” at No. 8. Ahead, Sabrina Carpenter’s flirty summer smash “Bed Chem” dwindles to No. 30 and rapper Lil Uzi Vert’s last-minute sequel to Eternal Atake debuts at No. 40 with “Light Years (Practice)” on this week’s Trending Tracks chart!

“ST. CHROMA” by Tyler, The Creator (feat. Daniel Caesar)

In its first week, Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It moved 299,500 equivalent album units, including 157,000 streaming equivalent units and 66,000 vinyl sales. The experimental standout “ST. CHROMA,” featuring Daniel Caesar, entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 7. This has rewritten traditional melodic structures of chart-toppers with monologues, jarring production shifts, and haunting human percussion and operatics.

According to American Songwriter, Tyler describes CHROMAKOPIA as “a symbolic manifestation of who I am.” Track lyrics like, “Welcome to my new world, it’s a trip / Got Daniel Caesar on the track, it’s a hit” capture the hip-hop icon’s pompous self-referential jabs in a dual-tone dimension. “Bed Chem” by Sabrina Carpenter

The latest Short n’ Sweet single belongs to “Bed Chem,” a rare divert from the album’s folky ’70s disco soundscape. Instead, it brandishes a bubbly blend of synth-pop and early 2000s R&B. Co-written with Julia Michaels and Amy Allen, the track’s playful vibe shines best on her sold-out arena tour with lyrics like, “Got that bed chemistry, lights off, you and me,” especially while twirling in flowy Brigitte Bardot-inspired baby doll dresses.

When going into the studio with her friend Paloma Sandoval to create “Bed Chem,” Carpenter described the initial demos as “sexy and a little bit unserious,” which were eventually topped with her signature honky-tonk wit and sexual innuendo. Stream “Bed Chem” by Sabrina Carpenter below!

“Light Years (Practice)” by Lil Uzi Vert

Four years after the initial installment, Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake 2 continues their alien prophecy through heavy-hitting collaborations with Lil Wayne, GloRilla and more hip-hop royalty. He describes the album as a balance between fan expectations and personal vision, saying, “We can always give ’em what they want, but we also have to do what we want.” At the heart of Eternal Atake 2, there’s still a lot of Uzi, especially with the second track, “Light Years (Practice),” being an early “oh snap!” moment, fueled by a wicked concoction of intergalactic 808s and drill.

As expected, Uzi flaunts their signature high-energy mannerisms and luxury-driven lyrics. With bold lines like, “Eatin’ my cereal with ice-ice diamonds, so when I’m eatin’ breakfast, I’m shinin’,” Uzi fuses fan-favorite hooks with his own creative edge on his highly championed space odyssey.
