I really like this longer treat for woodpeckers. You don’t need a cage as it comes ready to hang with a built-in plastic base and loop. Easy to install and keeps the birds happy. I’m so happy I didn’t have to buy a special feeder for this you just loop it on and watch them come!

Within 15 minutes of hanging the first woodpecker seed bar, a Downy woodpecker was here outside the kitchen window and started eating. My husband joked that the bird must have followed the Amazon truck and came with the seed bar. We had the pair of Downey Woodpeckers and then a pair of Nuttall’s woodpeckers on the seed bar for the 3 months we had the seed bars up in the tree here. And of course, the squirrels found it!

The downy woodpeckers who live in our yard vastly prefer this bar to any of the other similarly-priced bars on Amazon. As soon as I put this one out, they are on the bar ready for a snack.

This bar has a little plastic hook at the top and it’s held together on a multi-pronged plastic skeleton inside of the bar. I find that it fits pretty well inside a bar-type woodpecker cake cage which gives them more opportunity to perch.
